::EBSQ Member News ~ October 2005::

~:From the Editors:

September was a positively crazy month for pretty much everyone we know. Filled with birthdays, anniversaries, family obligations, hurricanes, tragedies, births, deaths. It's a wonder anything got done! And some things didn't get done, including all of the 'SQewy award nominations. Look for more categories on which to vote through the end of October.

One thing that DID get done was our September Juried Member Screening. You'll find a list of this September's newest juried members. Also, be sure to check out this month's featured artists, Pete Snyder and Harlan, both newly juried. Congratulations!

To ease back into fall, we suggest following in the footsteps of this month's cover artist, Kate Johnson. Each year, at the beginning of the calendar, as well as on her birthday, she takes a walk and journals it artistically. In the Northern Hemisphere, the air is growing crisp, and fall is in the air. Take some time out, perhaps do a little early fall plein air, and remind yourself to breath. And while we're at it, Happy Birthday, Kate!

~:EBSQ Live--Tonight! (10/10/2005)

Join us for EBSQ LIVE! Monday October 10th. This month's presentation is a Meet the Author with EBSQ's own Diane Dobson-Barton, author of "Make a Profit with Your Passion: Starting a Home-Based Art Business". Diane will discuss her book and take questions.
Whether you are an artist just considering a career in art, or have been doing it for a number of years, giving direction to a home-based art business can be a huge challenge. In Profit with Your Passion, Diane breaks it down for you in manageable steps, and helps to direct you to the art career that is right for you.

Diane Dobson-Barton has an advanced degree, and has worked as an artist for over 20 years. Her art has won awards in the United States and abroad, is in private collections all over the globe, and her work has appeared in numerous publications. She lives and works in rural Kansas with her husband, two children.
