because it's a proffesional looking website with lots of options for the artist. In fact I don't only think it looks professional, but it also is professional.
I liked the fact that, when we I send an email, I got a very quick response.
It's fun to see so many different artists on this site. There are a lot of features for the artist which makes it interesting. The shows are fun to enter etc, etc.

There is only one thing I am still wondering about. I might have misunderstood things, but what happened with the last portrait swap show?
We never saw the results, lol.

We don't actually allow voting on the portrait swaps, since "identity" gets wrapped up in the actual art. It's been a long-standing tradition to NOT vote on this particular show each year, but rather to do it for personal gratification. :)

Thanks for the feedback--and the question!

I liked joining it anyway, hehe. It's fun to do a portrait swap. I got mine from Maria :D

Portrait Swaps

I was reading that Vincent Van Gogh dreamed of setting up an Artists community, and mentioned before that EBSQ has probably realised that dream.

He also swapped paintings - particularly portraits - with other artists as a mark of respect. I'm not sure if it was just him, or if it was common practice. But the portrait swap, without voting, is following that tradition and I admire it for that.

OK, OK, I know I am mesmerised by Van Gogh and probably see his influence when it is not really there... just my tuppence worth :-)

Re: Portrait Swaps

I think it's an interesting observation; thanks for sharing, as well as the compliment!
