::EBSQ Live--Monday, February 21 2005::
This month, Joanna Grant will introduce us to her world as a collage artist. For the past several years, her work has concentrated on taking materials that would otherwise end up in our landfills and recycling it into collage art.
"The effect I am going for with my collage work is fun and funky. I refer to my work as "primitive" because my techniques and use of recycled materials often result in the finished product looking a bit rough or unrefined, which I think just adds to the interest and character of the individual piece."
Joanna Grant (aka Joanna Banana) lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
LIVE! is open to members and non-members and we encourage all who are interested to attend. The evening starts at promptly at 9 PM EST so be sure to arrive a few minutes early. This will be the first official chat in the new version of our chat room.
::This month's featured artists::
- Cary Snyder:
"...our daughter was diagnosed with brain and spinal tumors almost three years ago. I was emotionally and physically wrecked, and had to figure out how to deal. During one 7 week hospital stay, on a whim I decided to do some drawings to spice up the walls, and my desire to create was instantly rekindled. Anyone who has a sick child knows the awful feeling of helplessness. Being able to improve Sofie's environment and make her smile was one way for me to feel less helpless."
- Richard Snyder:
"After going to school at AIP, Photoshop opened a whole new world to me. At one time I only did mixed media paintings using anything and everything I could get my hands on to make my point. Using photoshop lets me do all of this, but I don't make a huge mess doing so."
